Benjamin Academy 2024-2025 School Year

Consider Benjamin Academy for the needs your child for the following:

1. Academics

At Benjamin Academy, students strive for success academically, and at their own pace. We empower all students to excel in a small classroom environment, promoting low anxiety for a positive outcome.

  • ELA (Use of blends, word decoding, encoding, basic comprehension), Orton-Gillingham
  • Math (Traditional and Touch Math)
  • Science (Live Experiments)
  • Social Studies
  • Social Skills (Social Concept)

Progress Monitoring, Progress Reporting and Pre & Post Achievement testing comprises cumlative grade summations. Formative, Interim and Summative assessments are given to each student in forms of Quiz, Test, and Essay as evidence of didactics taught at Benjamin Academy.

2. Low Student: Teacher Ratio

Our teachers are committed to student success! Instruction is provided teacher-to-student, teacher-to-student groups, and one-on-one. Instruction is supported by use of Chromebooks, Ipads, and Computer Labs.

We do combine students for a group setting, if proven beneficial for the classroom setting.

3. Peer & Group Social Discussions

Conversations are a normal process, however sometimes our children struggle with knowing "how" to start or maintain. We promote language groups, and social skills while in the classroom and lunch periods.

4. Specific Needs Addressed

Some students who are accepted at Benjamin Academy may have a dignosis of ADD/ADHD, Mild Autism, Asperger's, Mild Intellectual Delay, and Communication Disorders (verbal or non verbal). We provide individual learning plans for most students. For students not quite ready to transition to a classroom setting - the PACE program is available. For students who require significant support in the classroom - the STAR program pairs 1-on-2 structured learning of skills needed if a student requires help throughout the classroom. For any student program which a student is enrolled into our "anxiety free" environment, you must have independent use of bathroom hygiene and independent eating skills with no student behaviors.

Behavior or Conduct - Currently we are unable to serve students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, Behavior Intervention Plans, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or other Conduct Disorders.

As we are parents and guardians of children who may have varying learning styles, it is imperative we Champion and Support our students whenever possible. Please take a moment to review our Parent manual below. By working together, we can achieve our goal!

Parent Commitment

Parents and guardians, it is our mission to CHAMPION our students wins while SUPPORTING their losses. Please review our tools and techniques to keep our students on target for daily commitments.

  • Read and Adhere to the School Handbook regarding uniform colors and dress attire for ladies and gentlemen of our school.
  • To ensure the safety of all children and staff, any onsite visit requires use of Mask, Temperature check and Handwashing protocols.
  • Provide immediate communication if your child comes down with cough, fever or illness. We can provide alternatives for school classroom assignments if needed. We strive to provide a "fever free" environment at all times.
  • To prepare each student daily, please arrive 10 minutes early allowing a fresh "anxiety free" start to the school day.
  • Encourage and Empower your child during the morning drive to school. It makes a great difference in their approach to certain situations.
  • Read for 30 minutes per day, after school hours on a topic which you can discuss at your peer group the next day.
  • Facilitate the home/school communication effort by monitoring and enforcing the use of the organizer and planner by the student, parent, and teacher. Please be sure to read each day.
  • Complete the logged access daily of each student's progress.
  • Sign Up for Parent/Teacher conference preferences as soon as possible. Skype, FaceTime or In Person are options.
  • Review your child's personal folder bi-annually, to ensure all information is up to date. Report all changes to Administration within 1 week of the change.
